Character Name: Sae Kurosawa
Series: Fatal Frame II: Deep Crimson Butterfly
Age: Sae is 17. However, she's the vengeful antagonist of the second game, lashing out and hurting others and participating in the mass murder of her entire village out of revenge. She's old enough to know what she was doing was wrong and to be rehabilitated from that.
From When?: End of the Hellish Abyss ending. (Mio fights Sae, forces her out of Mayu and they fall into the Hellish Abyss. What happens to Sae is unknown; Mio is blinded, Mayu is saved).

Inmate Justification: Sae has grown up with the idea that the only one who will ever care for/about her is her twin sister and that the only purpose she has is to die by her sister's hand. It doesn't matter what happens in the interim, Sae will do whatever she can to make it happen and fulfill what she sees as the only point of her existing.

Arrival: Brought against her will

Abilities/Powers: Sixth sense abilities, able to see and hear spirits—partially because she is one herself now. She’s also capable of wielding the Darkness, which essentially is a sort of miasma of sorts that corrupts spirits and makes them go mad. Through this she can control them to do her bidding.

She also can command the Kusabi, a one-hit-kill ghost. Sae herself is immune to most exorcism effects (or at least she’s immune to the Camera Obscura which is the only exorcising we see attempted on her).

Extremely agile and able to possess living people if they’re weak enough/sensitive enough to spirits. She also has a permanent red mark around her throat like a rope burn from where she was strangled.

For the sake of the game, she can be de-powered completely except for her sixth sense + the rope mark not

Inmate Information: - Twin, born first, but according to the belief system at the time she’s considered the "younger" twin.
- Only children of the Ceremony Master and head of the village. Their mother immediately committed suicide upon realizing she gave birth to twins.
- Revered and worshipped and feared by the villagers bc of twin status
- Crimson Sacrifice Ritual performed by their friends, a set of twin boys, Itsuki and Mutsuki. Ritual failed. Sae & Yae next to try.
- Itsuki, the survivor, worked with Sae and Yae to figure out an escape plan.
- Sae and Yae fled the village to avoid becoming Sacrifices. Sae falls down the mountain path and is captured. Yae manages to flee but gets amnesia
- Itsuki commits suicide, Sae finds the body. Resolves to try and do the ritual alone but hopes Yae will come back for her
- Sae is hung by the village and thrown into the Hellishy Abyss as a stand-alone sacrifice. It doesn’t work.
- Sae returns as a vengeful ghost and slaughters the entire village and curses it

Sae believes that it's only right to 'become one' with her sister for the sake of the village and saving others. In her diary she often shows regret and blames herself (+Yae) for the tragedies that befall the village (like Itsuki killing himself, or the Outsider man becoming the Kusabi/a sacrifice). She often laments that if they'd just done their job the first time, it'd avoid a lot of what happened.

She considers herself too weak to be of use to anyone except to join as one person with her sister. From her diary: "Yae and I are drifting apart. It scares me.
I feel that we are becoming more and more distant the longer our lives go on. Not since we were born have we truly been together.

That is why I want us to become one.

Yae and I, two sisters as one...

Become one, and we can be together forever."

She is angry and resentful that her sister didn't come for her, but refuses to acknowledge it, and will lash out if it's brought up too aggressively.

Path to Redemption: Sae needs someone to teach her that it's okay to be her own person and live for herself and/or separate from Yae. She needs to be encouraged to actually admit being sorry for the people she killed along the way and that maaaybe this sacrifice ritual wasn't actually a good thing, that it wasn't wrong to want to leave it behind, and that Itsuki killing himself and the other collateral damage wasn't actually her fault. She may end up latching on to her warden a little too much and being clingy, but someone just needs to give her a hand with that. Some therapy too, maybe.

Sample Network Entry: Um.

[There's a pause, then, Sae's brow furrowed as she stares into the camera uncertainly. She looks away, as if to try and prompt someone else to speak, but there's no one around her. She frowns and looks a little put out before she turns back to the camera.]

...I... Wanted to keep a diary. I used to have one, back home, with my-- ...With my sister.

[She trails off again, swallowing hard and taking a deep breath] How do I get one here? Do I have to let my, um, Warden person read it too? Or can it be completely mine? [There's another brief pause as she says that, a flicker of odd emotion over her face. She's never had anything that was strictly her own before, not to be shared with anyone--even her sister. It feels...odd. Wrong, almost, and alien. She shifts uncomfortably]

I'd like to keep up my lessons-- reading, and writing. I can try to do something to help repay for the help? I can sew a little? [She winces a little, feeling embarrassed at her lack of things to offer]

...Thank you.
